bugs in Alpaca feed
« on: September 15, 2013, 09:29:14 pm »
Hello. I purchased 4 20 kg of Heygates Lama and Alpaca feed this weekend. I have noticed this morning that there are hunderes of tiny mite like bugs in the new dustbin which contains 2 bags of the feed. Also there are a few meal worm type bugs roaming around inside the dustbin. The dustbin was brand new so I don't think the bugs were left in the bin.

Where do these come from. Is the food out of date??
Will it harm the Alpacas

Thanks Andrew

id return it and get your money back.

we often got offered free pig food which was mite suspect from our farm shop, so it must be quite common.

Mites in feed is common in the summer months especially where there is a lot of feed stored for example at a supplier's. They should spot it and take the feed off sale but they obviously haven't this time. Take it back and get a replacement or a refund.
