Covered in bruises
« on: July 03, 2013, 10:07:31 pm »
We went to pick our goats up today from the very kind lady who had looked after them while we were away. She and her OH got them loaded for us and asked how we would manage our end. I said we just had to. After all, I can now walk a few yards without sticks.

OH had Cloud as I thought she was more likely to pull. Unfortunately, they disappeared along the footpath before I had Pom out of the trailer so we followed much more quickly than my legs liked. As we got in the garden, she saw Cloud going in the shed so put on an extra spurt just at the moment that I caught my foot on an uneven bit of path. I ended up on my arthriticky knees and sprawled across a big stone mushroom (don't ask - previous owner was into garden gnomes  ::) ) with my arm nearly pulled out of its socket before I manage to let go of the lead. Pom went into the shed and OH got the bolts across before coming to lift me up. Needless to say, I could hardly move and we still had to get the trailer unhitched and put away before I drove back round to the front of the house.

I've not done much since except examine my bruises and get OH to rub Movelat (like Deepheat but not hot) into my muscles. Goats!

I'm glad they're home though and they love their newly extended shed.

Ouchhhhhhhhh, its not great, and it takes a while to settle down, well at least you have not got a wedding to go to, if  you went covered in  bruises the guests would think  you fight for a living!! I remember a dog we had pull to run after a quod bike and for some strange reason I failed to let go of the lead so grass surfed!!!
Well, hope nothings too bad, rest and hot baths and plenty of that arnica on the bruises :fc:

Oh no, MGWM  :( take care of those joints , they are bad enough at the mo.)  Have you any arnica cream? It helps with bruising. The least problem when you are so sore but ether in the long run to reduce swelling quickly.
Sending    your way.

How are you this morning ?
Had a message from a friend later on last night to say she slipped in the bathroom and is covered in bruises and has a very swollen ankle this morning.
Now as things come in 3's , I am wondering ifI should sit tight today

I guess that's why you're the MAD GWM not just GWM  ::)

You chucked the gnomes but kept the mushrooms?  Really, you know mushrooms are dangerous, particularly stone ones between unloading point and goatshed, let alone when you are just about mobile enough to hobble with a very quiet unexcited goat perhaps..

Arnica working?  If not I recommend red wine and warm shower in no particular order - not a hot bath as you might not manage to get out of it without further injury!

Goats are so strong, especially when they see their friend disappearing into the shed.  Hope you are not too stiff today - it normally takes a day or two before the full extent of the bruising becomes apparant.

I have had my shoulder discolated recently when it got trapped between two greedy big goats after their buckets, and yesterday, Darren the big male goat went a bit too fast for me across the field, and I nearly came a cropper!!

Definitely Mad.  :roflanim:

I would have chucked the **** mushroom but it's cemented it. Would have landed in the strawberries otherwise as it's in the strawberry bed.

The swelling has gone down now and the bruises have come out so I'm pretty colours but on the mend. I really ought to get some arnica in. As most of you know, bruises and animals are a common mix.

Oooh poor you MGM. Its harder to fall when you are older isn't it. I don't seem to bounce as well as I used to. Goats have got a lot to answer for. The number of times I come back indoors and say to OH "Ive been Billied" which means he has had a go at me with his horns. Trouble is, he doesn't mean it in anger, its usually only to get my attention to give him a cuddle or a stroke. Yesterday though, OH went up to our post box by the gate..a long way for him to walk with his pain, and as soon as he came in he said some rude words which when translated meant "Ive been Billied" :roflanim:

No, it's not harder at all. In fact I think it's easier. It's getting up that's the problem.  :roflanim:

Hope your OH has recovered from being billied.

Bruises aren't so bad today but can anyone explain why dogs and goats always barge into the bruised bits?
