I like Delia - I didn't watch the "cheats" series but I use her recipes a lot form other books and they're pretty much fool proof. She's less flashy than a lot of them now but she makes it accessible, which I think a lot of celeb chefs don't.

I used Delia's 'Christmas' recipe book when I decided I NEEDED to make my very own raised pork pie. It took about 3 days and tasted disappointing to say the least ... maybe I just couldn't taste it after the monster effort of making it. her Cheat thing was shameful, Nigella's pouting is embarrassing .. I can't for the life of me imagine the programme makers asking HFW or Rick Stein or someone to sex it up for the girls... mind you, I'm not sure I'd want to see that .......

I have some of Delias books and have used many recipes with success, THEN she did the cheat thing, and told people to buy packets and jars, stupid woman put me off 100%, I thought chefs/cooks were supposed to encourage us to make things not tip packet contents into a bowl and add water! ::) and I think she's annoying to watch! ;)

I thought her cheat series was a bit patronising. what does she think we all do when we havn't the time to cook up a banquet. Of course we all allready use jars, tins and packets to rustle up a quick tea. has the woman just discovered supermarkets, or has one lined her up to boost sales?
too many cooking programmes, trying to cover ground fanny and johnny did decades ago.
hurrah for the hairy bikers, comedy show /travel show with a bit of cooking.
let's be avin you :D
nigella? uber rich yummy mummy with connections in high places. attention seeking :cow:

True, delia is a canary fan. Her other books have all been great and have a place on everyones bookshelf. her recipes seem to work, whereas some books are designed for the coffee table, all photos and little substance. I suppose tv celebrity chef status is a gravy train some are reluctant to get get off.
