Cant stand her, the how to cheat cook book just proved how bad she really is.

I must admit that I use some of her old books in the kitchen, they are a good reference for basics. I would not let the Cheating one into my house, even when it was offered for only a couple of quid, lol.  No, I don't like her, but haven't seen the program you're referring to.  ::)

I see I'm about to go against the trend again, but, I like her. She's done a lot of good work over the years and a lot of people have been able to gain the basics of cooking as a result of her work. As for her as a person.. I don't know her and I'm not going to judge based on the false environment of TV series. I certainly wouldn't touch her how to cheat thing though, I have Nigella's version and it's much higher quality (and I don't need to listen to her ridiculously false way of speaking to read it thankfully).

I did buy Delia's How to Cook (the combined version that was released recently) a few months ago and am finding it very helpful to fill in basic knowledge on many points I'd missed by being self-taught  rather than having someone show me. I'm now actively recommending it to various student friends or older people who want to make the switch from microwave meals to cooking for themselves.

Technically Delia is supposed to be very accurate and fool proof!!!! I don't do precise so maybe that is why I am not too keen on her and as for Nigella, I like her but HOW FAKE?

I changed my opinion of Delia too when she started the cheats cooking (which was just rubbish)  what she should have been doing is persuading people back in to art of proper cooking not the convenience cr*p She could have advised people on how to prepare meals in advance, freeze foods etc.

Agreed, that would have been really useful. Working out what I can and can't freeze (and what I'm still prepared to eat after being frozen) is an area I have very little knowledge of at present.

trial and error I think.. when I make chilli I always make up a big pan full, have some for tea and the rest i and freeze in 2 portion tubs. It is great from the freezer -just remember to take it out about 10hrs before you want to eat it (though you can thaw out in the microwave) . its a great standby if you've nothing in.

I agree with you there, Lara. That's what we would have expected of her!
As for Nigella, I also use her older books (the Domestic Goddess is great for baking and some of the recipes are now staples in this household). I stopped watching her though. Even my kids get scared when she looks into the camera! Someone called it gastroporn...
Fun to watch are always Jamie and H F-W, but I don't cook many of their recipes, don't know, why... :-\ :&>

I used to find  Nigella's programme amusing as there is always a close of of her stuffing something large into her big red lips and her tongue comes out to lick around them sensuously, helped by a slither with her little finger, then a shot of her cleavage!!!!!!! Is it to encourage males to watch I wounder????Not quite the same to see HugeFW lick his lips and stuff huge amounts of food into his gob!!!!
