« on: May 04, 2013, 05:14:23 pm »
Can someone please clarify for me whether our lambs need 2 doses of heptavac. the ewes were given their boosters prior to lambing, the subsequent lambs had a dose at 4wks, do we give them a 2nd dose after 4 wks?have read the bumf but I'm obviously a bit dim  :-[ .

I'm pretty sure it's two doses.

'Fraid so, always two doses the first year.

With Covexin-8 they used to suggest you could give lambs just one dose if you did it at a few weeks, the maternal antibodies acting as the first dose.  However I think even they now recommend two doses for lambs, irrespective of the maternal status.
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing
