We generally use headlights in winter too.
I can recommend a rechargeable lantern, but they aren't in stock just now. B&Q do a really good camping lantern, that is fully charged when you get it, so you can just switch it on. Supposedly it lasts for 3 months before t needs recharged, but I'm not sure if that s actually the case. Because we have to stay overnight at shows, we often use lanterns, and B&Q's is the best. Unfortunately, you can't get it just now, because their camping gear isn't in stock! So I'm sorry that its not much use!
