As I am of a great age the MP on the take does not surprise me.  However ....  I find it insulting when the MPs are compared to pigs.  Pigs have standards!!!!!!

I could only speak for myself there, Russ!
It all just comes down to pure greed. Do they really all think that they don't earn enough to serve the people? Now the talk is to scrap expenses and raise their salaries instead? :&>

Want to see a list op MP's who haven't been milking expenses, they should be highlighted as the rest are on the take. I used to get a lot of expenses but they all had codes and were scrutinised by higher powers,I would not have claimed for some things they have, how dare they claim for unnecessary stuff, we have to put money aside for added extras like Garden stuff, furnishings and Whisky....hang on Whiskey may be an essential item!!!!!!

the expense system sort of came about in the late sixties , but it was for normal expenses really then . The system that is now being abused was created in the late seventies early eighties by Maggie Thatcher and co . It was at a time when there was a lot of tension and upheaval , remember those days ...? , a general pay squeeze was in force and the MPs used it as a secret way to increase their wages without the public knowing . They could then say " we aren't having any pay increase so why should you ?" .  They now stand there in complete belief that a person just cannot live on a wage of £63,000 a year, the basic for the lowliest MP, yet they still think they are in touch with their constituents ?????  I wonder what would happen if all the people who are disgusted with the way the politicians are draining the coffers of our money realized that Euro MPs are doing exactly the same only on a much larger scale ? Basic wage of about £83,000 expenses of about £182,000, £40,000 a year allowance for a nominated office in their house ie the loo ??? first class daily  travel allowance , which could be £1000+ and a sign in fee for every time they sign in to EU parliament , I think that was about £375 . Many travel to the EU parliament sign in and go home again, not bad for a days work eh £1,375+. They can become a millionair in 9 months !!!! Many people will think "so what that is Europe" ...well we are now part of it and pay for the privilege, so it is OUR money that is paying for all their money too........just like UK politicians . Vote UKIP , get us out of the EU , and then kick out the thieving bast*rds that are stealing our money , and let the EU sort itself out !!!

cheers

It starts on the local level - our local paper published a list last year with the Councillers' expenses (!!). Trouble is, it's not illegal, is it even fraud? Just milking the anonymous masses because they think they are due that money for "the good work" they do. Anybody ever been to a council meeting, lol!

I would vote for UKIP on the EU policy, but I can't bring myself to vote for a party who's entire energy policy is based on coal and nuclear!

We should all be called the cowering masses.....we bleat (sorry sheep!), we moan, we complain....and then we do nothing about it. Todays headlines are, after all, tomorrows kitty litter! Steal a pack of sausages (and crappy commercial ones at that!) and you get hauled through the courts, steal a few thousand from the tax payer and soon it's yesterdays news. Ever seen a disgraced politician on the dole queue, I think not.

The best laugh I had all week was when a pensioner went to the Allied Irish bank stockholders meeting and started hurling rotten eggs.... as we say over here in the emerald isle, fair play to him.

I once saw a disgraced former T.D. (M.P.), who was declared bankrupt, driving a top of the range Mercedes jeep.....oh how I wish I were bankrupt!! Our Taoiseach (prime Minister) gets paid more than Barrack Obama, and Gordon brown for that matter!!

If we take to the streets the police (undeservedly) get the brunt of our fury....oh to throw a few well placed rotten eggs at the deserving few.

It's turned into another witch hunt. It's like they are hoping that if they get rid of this man the problem will go away. How wrong they are - again!

Hooray, my local MP - Linlithgow East and West Falkirk Labour MP - Michael Connarty (should that be Con-artiste) has just been rumbled. Sold his house and pocketed a further £4k for the furniture in it, then went on to claim more expenses for new furniture - which was delivered to a thrid property in Glasgow - not any of his official addresses!!

I hate this man, he is an odious wee toley and i'll be contacting the local police station to make a formal compaint about him defrauding the government and tax payers.

I'll also be contacting the labour party - locally and nationally. And of course, i'll drop Alec Salmond a wee email and hopefully he'll use it to promote further independence form westminster as well as show up the labour party for teh unionist wasters that they all are!!! FREE THE PEOPLE!!

ha ha ha ha ha ha, i'm delighted, i hope he's out on his job and feeling the pinch like so many others just now.

sorry, rant over, i'll leave further political comment at the door, but i couldn't resist this one!!!

It's no flippin witch hunt - it's about time he went.  He's a good soul, does a lot of good in the community I believe but he defended these greedy beggars when it first came out.  He has no authority either - they cheek him right left and centre, so he MUST go!
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

of course he must go but what i have a problem with is all the other MPs jumping on the get him out and your problem is solved bandwagon. All those MPs who stood up and asked for his resignation should be probed.

that is the man who is investigating MPs claims.....OMFG ...they STILL do not get it do they ....they are so corrupt and so far removed from real life, they really do think that they are doing nothing wrong ....18,000 on FOOD over 4 years ???????? WTF does the fat bast**d eat 2lb of caviar and chips every night ???? Even Gordon Brown is still just saying we must be transparent and change the expenses system ....NO YOU GREEDY SH*TE ..... you are already getting enough money ... bin the expenses system altogether....Basic MPs wage 67 thousand, secretaries allowance 40 thousand ( usually paid to hubby or wifey ) and a pension scheme that would cost 50 thousand pounds PER YEAR if they were in any other job . What planet are they on ????? no wonder most of them are millionairs ...
