Brilliant food shopping website....
« on: June 15, 2012, 09:58:23 pm »
I've been picking up a few bargains from a site called   http://www.approvedfood.co.uk/

was sceptical at first but have been so impressed I've become a regular and after checking with Dan that it was OK to mention it here, I want to share  :)
Basically they get all the food from supermarket giants that would end up in a skip as its nearing its sell by and they sell it on to the public.
For example, I bought 30 creme eggs for £3.00 and several tins of tomato puree for pennies. They also sell non-consumables such as 9 nouvelle loo rolls reduced from over £4 to £2. Its great for larger families or just those wanting to save some money each week on their shopping.

I did make one boo-boo though - a tin of thai green curry paste for 49p that I assumed would be diddy. It was nearly 2kg. Oops! LOL.

This is what my cat did to the one and only creme egg I snaffled for myself and hid behind my PC tower!!  I should add I bought them for children - honest.

A good excuse to buy some more,   or I'll send you one when I buy some

Oh mummyshaz, I am so glad that you can understand my suffering. She snaffled my chocolate!! and to add insult to injury, didn't even finish it. I couldnt' touch it - it has fish breath and black hairs stuck to it. I was tempted though...it is chocolate after all.

Well I've put in my first order - incl 70 creme eggs.  :) - I wanted to nudge the order to £30.

£5.25 delivery or free for first order if >£30 and <50kg (I managed this). 'course if your in the highlands & islands you may get a different rate.

Thanks plums

I'm pretty sure they deliver UK wide, Russ.  I wonder if there is a gardening use for tampons - just in case?

The fruit juices, crisps, tins of food, cereal bars etc have been really good value. Just got to work out what to do with that huge tin of curry paste now  :innocent:

Yeah - this is a great site. I'm going to keep it and - once we get back into the house and are actually back to cooking "proper" food and have somewhere to put the bulkier purchases I am going to stock up

Thanks  :trophy:

Plums, I was just talking on another thread about how I need motivation to loose weight and get healthy and now you tell me where I can buy 30 cream eggs for £3.00. I love cream eggs. Life just isn't fair.  :(

Am I in the minority here? ???  I couldn't eat a creme egg if I were promised a bottle of gin afterwards :D
