Hi Dans.  Yes do pop out and bring your OH too.  If you like what you see you are welcome to volunteer to help out when you have time  :innocent: ;D  or just to come and soak up the air.    Pm me when the weather is good....no point putting you off straight away with rain and gales.   Hope you don't mind jumpy little dogs  :dog: :dog:

Dans, enjoy the journey.  It can seem like you are waiting for what you want - but there are lots of opps in the city that just arent around in the country (like community allotments, city farms and - for me- paid work in the great outdoors!!!!)  , so enjoy that while you can  .  I love my new place here, but also enjoyed my 25 years in the 'rat race' in many ways - learnt lots, earnt, and was still able to satisfy my need for growing and the outdoors (mostly in spare time untill 5 years ago).  Good luck in all.

I think I always wanted a smallholding since I was about 8 but I was 50 before I believed it was possible.
Looking back I think I could have started earlier.

Most suitable smallholdings within a reasonable distance of the city are taken either by well-off people who want the paddocks for horses, or by builders hoping to make a mint.  They both push the prices way beyond what is reasonable for a small acreage.

True tho bear in mind most horse owners are people who might have been rich were it not for the horses....:-))

We farm the land bought by five of our neighbours who have no idea what to do with it.
Being certain just means you haven't got all the facts
