Thank you for your varying responses you have given my daughter.
She was only trying to help a friend rehome some of the hens. We did buy 18 of them as we do every year. She did realise that they could not all be rehomed. Sadly it seems that if it is cheap there must be something wrong with it. Well our little ladies are laying really well and feathering up nicely.
Maybe she should have put more info, but having been told the awful things that can happen when giving too much info, she chose the pm route to give the phone number for contact.

Phone number via pm IS a good idea but a little story about what the hens were and why they were for sale would have helped the questioning minds, were not hard harted just know there are a lot of scams out there!

Thank you for that. I had no idea that this web site suffered from scams. Shows how innocent I am.
On a lighter note the new hens are fab and very nosey. Great time wasters.

Hi Khajou (wonderful username!)
Hope you and your lovely caring daughter will stay on the forum and take part in our discussions.  There is a board on here especially for youngsters too.
You can tell us a bit about your family, surroundings and animals, without being specific as to ages, places etc, on the introductions board.  I look forward to hearing more about your ex batts and photos too maybe.  I got 4 more a few weeks ago and they are still reluctant to come out of their shed.  These are ostensibly 'free range' and are very skittish, unlike my ex caged hens which are more humanised.  If they are outside long enough I might get a few photos.

I did PM your daughter and suggest she do a wee intro.

You weren't to know and it is very commendable to be so caring. :bouquet:  Please join us on the Juniors forum, and on here too.  We'd love to hear more about your own hens.

Hi Farmer Fly,

I'd love to say how lovely your new ladies are, but perhaps not..... yet!!

Well done to you for taking them on. I'm sure in a few months they'll get all their feathers back, and will be looking beautiful again. Have they laid any eggs for you yet?

They look just like my 4 new girls!  Mine aren't ex caged birds though, they are ex free range - well THAT'S a joke!  Free range my giddy aunt!  A huge barn with one door open and a breed that forages in dark woodland undergrowth in nature - no wish to be out in the daylight.  Mine have only ventured outside their hut to eat and drink!  And they run from me, unlike my ex batts who were only too pleased to see me.  At least they didn't have their beaks chopped off like caged hens. ::)

You see Farmer Fly, a little information goes a long way!
Glad to see you had a few of these girlies, I'm sure you will take great pleasure in seeiing them go from oven ready to fluffy feathered in a few months.
One of our first 4 ex-bats even went broody and raised some chicks, she was the best Mum!

From this.........
