Blimey!! I'm glad I was buying coloured! I paid 205 guineas for a ewe lamb and 190 guineas for a ram lamb (who is bigger than my ewes and will be working this year.) Those were some of the highest prices for the coloureds. Although the champion ram went for 520 guineas.

I've made a spreadsheet with the different bits of the standard in rows and each of my sheep in a column. When we get them in this week, I'm going to score them as best I can. I've also noted data like how many lambs they've had, whether the lambing was assisted and any health issues they've had. Next year, I'm going to record birth weight and 30 day weights for each lamb.

If you want the spreadsheets PM me and I'll send them on.

Well if my reckoning is right (£1.05ish = 1 guinea) then my prices are a little under par for my 2 very nice boys, if I ever sold Jake (the dad) I would probably get very good money as he is a handsome boy and a very well mannered one as well

Some rams went for 85 guineas though - though suppose it just depends what catches peoples eye on the day x
(and yes it is £1.05 to a guinea)

For birth and 30 day weights, a sack and a spring balance will do fine. Sorry  ;D
