Ludlow ryeland sale
« on: August 27, 2011, 09:23:13 pm »
Hi. Have had a lovely day today at Ludlow. Bought two new coloured ryelands - a ram lamb and a ewe lamb, to add to the two ewes I have at home here. We are only starting with the ryelands - building them up slowly. We have texels and badger faces as well.
Was anyone else there today?
Am so happy to have been able to buy both sheep I really wanted to have! (Although slightly concerned that if we were able to get them my eye is a bit rubbish!!)
Anyone else have ryelands?
Brought these two home and put Pepe in with a couple of young texel rams for now and Penelope in with a mixture of texel, badger face, cross breed ewe lambs we are keeping. These will be her group of pals until it's time for her to join the older ryeland ladies with Pepe! :-)
Will pop some piccys up soon x

We got Ryelands too  ;D Coloured and Whites.   Disappointed not to get to the sale, but did manage to buy in a new white Tup a couple of weeks ago and so do now have a new blood line intro this year.  :sheep:

Coloured tup went for somewhere in the region of 570 guineas, hate to think what the generation breeders were getting for their white tups as could not get near the sale room when they went up for auction.

I'm after a new white tup, probably ram lamb to run along side my excisting tup, so will have to keep my eyes open as not paying that sort of money.

Are they registered stock and if so what bloodlines do you have?

I have them too.  Can't believe the prices they are going for.  We might be getting a coloured Ryeland shearling ewe soon and will hopefully go to see her today.

Was it from the Ruslin line?

Yes he was. Second highest priced was a shearling tup from Arberth flock - 940 guineas.
