Ive always fed mine a mixture (I mix it in a great big plastic bin) of layers pellets, grain, and crushed dried sweetcorn. Ive always had good results, and great egg production, even during winter. I add crushed oyster shell perhaps once or twice a week, just to keep the shells hard. The yolks of my girlies eggs have always been a great orange colour, I think its due to the dried maize.

mine get layers pellets in the morning and wheat during the day. Whenever available it is also veg scraps, chickweed, bolted veg, etc. you may try to mix the wheat with other grains like corn, oats and barley (without the husks I read somewhere). I don't feed mixed grain as the ducks don't like most of it and I don't cater for different tastes  ::). If yours don't like pellets, try mash in the morning.  :&>
