Gary, your reading and writing are fine, you are getting ideas across which is the whole point of writing. If you want more 'polish' fair enough but if not, don't be stressed about it.
My hubby is the same and also learned at school to make his handwriting so bad they couldn't tell if he was spelling right or not

Anyway, back to the point of your post, we've had this trouble with one of our local marts that they don't put a 'reserve' on pens that actually covers the entry fee
I think there should be some sort of minimum for pens and for eggs, below which they don't sell. And then sellers can say 'no, i just need to get rid, sell them whatever' or 'not below the minimum'. Otherwise why would you risk entering good quality birds and eggs. Also no catalogue in advance is hopeless, when i have my sensible head on (rare
) I look at catalogues to see if I'm actually going to go to a sale.
