I'm planning on doing NOTHING today

i've had a frantic couple of weeks looking for wedding venues & bands and trying to find out from my far flung friends when they can make it back to scotland for a wedding. Luckily it's all falling into place - and i'm just waiting for the band to confirm they can do the dates we have in mind (and for nairn Highland Games to confirm what date the games are next year!!)

there are some truly awful bands out there btw!!

The rain is watering my garden nicely for me, i'm a wee bit concerned about my Goji berries since i moved them outside. they are turning a little brown and leaves are curling. I thought this might have been due to a lack of water since moving them outside, so i had to by a hose extension so i could reach them at the bottom of the garden

My builder has had an accident so the new log cabin has been put back until the 24th - but i've been out buying sockets, light fittings, floor tiles and stain so i can get the job finished when it's done.

i've been speaking to accountants and solicitors all week about my proposed new business venture - luckily both are on holiday for the rest of the week, so i can switch that off for a few days!

So, i'm frazzled.

So, i'm hoping to have a few days of not doing anything before launching into gardening/building/wedding/business mode this weekend

I shouldn't have planned all these things for the same time really huh?

Lucy got home from the vets lastnight and was still very sleepy. All X Rays have shown things as normal but they did find a problem with her back teeth. They have now been cut back and hopefully that will do the trick. They had wanted to flush out the tear duct in her eye but it was so badly swollen they couldn't get access to it. She now has 3 different medicines to get and still has to get the eye drops in. Today she is  over the anesthetic but her breathing is still difficult and her eye still a mess. Hopefully by Friday we should notice a difference in her eye.

Thanks for the concern.

Very concerned about Lucy tonight. When I went out to give her her various medicines her skin is covered in spots/small lumps and her ears are all marked with "scabs". Don't know if this is a reaction to some of the anti biotics or what but we will be back at the vets first thing tomorrow.

Morning all,

I've been doing probably exactly what most of you have been doing- tramping outside in the snow getting all the animals fed, and warm fresh water out to everyone who has frozen water.

only a very light dusting of snowy stuff here so far last night. Hope it stays that way too !!
Have had no vehicle for a year now , so it is a 5 mile round trip on foot to feed the horses every day  .
Apart from the fact something has gone pop in my knee , causing absolute agony !!!, I got to the land today only to find that the two new bales of haylage that were meant to be there this morning ...aren't there !!!!
I gave the horses the last of the haylage yesterday !!! I take a few pounds of oats and barley with me to the land everyday , so they have had something at least , plus what haylage I put in the feeder yesterday, would have lasted till late this morning early afternoon.
Why is it that it is always the worst moment that you get let down ? I ordered the haylage 7 days ago . He normally delivers no problem , plus I order well before I run out .
All the other people I used to know who sold hay/haylage , have either stopped selling it , moved or died !!!
I have now got hold of the farm that I buy the haylage from and although he is out at the moment , he  will be back soon ? So the haylage will be there tonight or early tomorrow morning .

cheers

The Big Thaw!

Its SO nice to see grass again- I hope its thawing where all of you are as well. I have been able to go out and move the little chicken run to a fresh bit of grass, the same with the rabbit and guinea pig run. Have emptied out huge bits of ice out of the ducks big water container's, sorted out the chickens into the appropriate runs, now that the old cockeral is gone. Let out the ex batteries out of the goat shed, the first time they have been able to go and roam for about 3/4 weeks. Fed the goats some hay, tidied up old the old feed sacks in the goat shed. Actually looked at the veggie garden- it looks a tip!

There's heavy rain forecast for Monday, so that may shift the rest of it - I sure hope so, but then on Wednesday there's to be sleet - just hope it's not bringing more snow with it.
I haven't done much outside today as I'm trying to get my Club books finished, just off out with the pup though so will let the birds out and see his reaction.  One of the ex-batts pecked his nose the other day so I think he'll stay clear. ;D (He was being rather forward with them at the time so I didn't blame her  ;)) I daren't let his mother out as she'll go and pick up the ducks and bring them to me. Time for a quick cuppa while he has a 'cat' nap though, then I hope my son will be over to finish off the dog run pop holes.
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age
