TheGirlsMum  how eggciting!!!  ;D :D I really want to have ago!

doganjo  Yes I totally agree with you, he kept them together as he rescued them (previous owner moved country) but they seem very happy together apart from the ocassional shove from both males, but otherwise are perfectly fine. I will be looking for a female though (OH doesn't know that  ;)) when we move home... just not sure when yet!  :D

I decided to let the chickens out today, they were absolutly fine. But second attempt in the late afternoon ended in the lady runner going for the head hen Marran as she was pecking around her water hole  ::) (muddy hole they have already delightfully created  ::) :D)
Of course the Marran did not take any of that nonsense and they FULL on had a 'bitch' fight, if they had hands they would of been slapping each other!

I hope that doesn't last long?  ???

I have 5 white campbell ducks, all called duckie! and 1 drake, Donald!  they start shouting about 20 mins after the chickens start, for about 15 mins then shut up, but literally 15 secs after I let them out of their house they whizz to the pond and shut up........until they spot their iceberg lettuce!! then we have quacks til they have eaten.

I love my ducks, they are addictive, if I could hatch more, I would.

do anyone elses fly? went out to feed them tonight, and the drake was flying a good 10meters up around the pen  ???

mine havnt flown ( daisy, daffy and donald lol) but our old muscovy drake used to fly and he was really heavy and powerful, he was wonderful but snaffled by a damn fox!  >:(

Mine cant physically get off the floor!!

The poultry sale at Thainstone on Saturday saw an Indian Runner Duck fetching a price of £160!!

I was pleased with the sale of my poultry but think I'll hatch ducks now!!

my trio were last years hatch, 1 egg everyday from 2 girls. i havent actually seen any mating, (their paddock is just in front of our house so in full view all day) are they still too young or are they not as "adventurous" as chickens?

what was so special about them? mine are gorgeous and were about £20 for trio last year at thainstone.

Well I must say they are FAR from quiet and FAR from shy!!!

They follow me around the garden, peck at my feet and the female.... JEEZE don't she half make a racket!  :o

They come upto my back door and make loads of noise until I come out and feed them!  :D
