i think x-mass should be cancelled! i really dont have the patience for the normal arguments, snide comments, people stealing my x-mass present ideas and passing them off as their own, my nan telling us all how she wont be around this time next year, the rubbish on the tv, burnt potatoes (every bloody year!) dry cold rank turkey (im gagging already!) and everyone smiling through gritted teeth and pretending we like each other while trying desperatley to drink until we fall asleap! and then my nan and mum will force us to play cards so they can fleece us! and this year to make things even better im playing taxi so i cant even drink myself into a state of happiness oh and my other half is working so i wont get to see him either! and im skint... spent all last weekend making pickled bloody limes (start these 24 hours before cooking!) and garlic, after locking myself in the kitchen (the door handle broke!) and gassing myself (and my sister who had her head out the window it was so bad) with boiling cider vinegar i got everything into jars lent behind them to get something and smash, ive got one jar of pickled garlic left, at least the floor smells nice now i suppose! normally i love x-mass and am excited from about october and have all presents brought and wrapped by the end of november but if i could have one thing this year it would be for me and my oh to be anywhere but here! hopefully (if things work out right) this time next year we will have moved away and be in solitary bliss together!  ;D

mmmmm .. sounds like a normal sort of day to me really..... ;D ::) If anything can go wrong it WILL go wrong....If anything ever goes right with me , I always think ...something must be wrong!!!!!  ::) I hate what christmas has become , the actual event is fine (although I am not religious) , it is just the crazy, insane commercialism that has built around it nowdays. Oh and I don't like all those people, that you avoid all year, popping up all smiley and saying Happy Christmas. Oh and I don't like all the plastic cr*p decorations or the lights people stick all over the place .  Oh and .........errrrm I think I just don't like Christmas FULL STOP.......

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE .........

Bah humbug........

Cheers

Oh dear, what terribly sad people making terribly sad lives for their OHs.  I am very happy that I have moved nearer my children and grandchildren, even having given up 10 acres.  We will have fun ;)
I wish you all you would wish yourselves. :D

:D Thank you Annie!  My Reee is a real hum-bug lol.  I am not expecting twinkle lights, a tree, or ought  :P Can you believe it? He is not even tempted by the ritual of making paper-chains  ;D  My suspicion is that he is either the troubled messiah, or a very naughty boy!! Oh, almost forgot....my wishes are; to breath in the crisp Norman air, watch the drama of each sunset within the warmth from my most special fireplace and behind my kitchen window, then to gaze at the blanket of stars which follow.  To dress up warm (for me it includes having a resmeblance to the michelen man!!) and walk our doglets with the man whom I adore. To be quiet, removed from the hassles of the race in the UK, to listen to the wind in the trees and the nature that surrounds us. Mostly, my wish is to be close to the man i continually strive to love better. Ree, you are my unique, most sexilicious, beloved, and I am bound to you.

Your lil' tornado x x x   :bee:

Carly

You made my heart jump a beat.  I hope that man of yours appreciates what he has.  He is a lucky man!!

Ree you Baaaaaaa Humbug!! I shall hear about it if you don't buck up.  Wear a bit of tinsle if nothing else!!

Love ya both!!

Kate  ;)

Oh Annie, you are lovely! Please do not misunderstand me, I have no complaints, I had merely been having a lil' giggle at my OH's hatred for the occasion.  I love him dearly!

Kate, awww thank you! I had come on TAS initially to PM you and then got involved on this thread lol, I am not sure if they got to you!?

Carly - I'm just winding him up!  He can't be that bad!  I miss both of mine dearly.  But I've been luckier than most - two great guys, pity they had to go too soon. ;)

We dont celebrate Xmas.  Normal day unless the kids come across.  This year they are all with other people.  No turkey, no lights, no holly, no tv.  Peace.  Had 31 years of living for other people now its our turn.

Oh, lordy. When I started this thread I expected little gift lists!

I love Christmas - I love having time to spend with our family (which is small but nicely put together), to relax, walk the dogs together, ride my horse, eat nice food, meet up with friends (some of whom we won't have seen since last year), catch up with others via letters in Christmas cards. I love to reflect on the year that's past and look forward to the next one. I love going to church through Advent and to the watchnight service.

Oh, and if anyone's interested I'd really like a DVD of "The Magnificent Seven" and the new Take That album.

Rosemary previous Xmases spent negotiating who was going to spend Xmas with whom, only to have it all changed at last minute because one particularly obnoxious sibling would change things just because he could.  Then there were the inlaws, which day would they come?  How long before father in law started to complain about the kids, too much money spent on them, too noisy, etc.  he would comandeer the television and the lounge;  Kids would want to watch their films, OH would want to listen to music.   Mother in law was too quiet to have an opinion.  Me in the kitchen with the cooking sherry (I hate sherry).   Now just peace and quiet and Hilary and co.  Wonderful.

But have a happy xmas and hope you get the Mag.7 dvd.

I love Christmas, but sadly this year by ourselves. Son entertaining her Mother. My Mum going to my Sisters and there is us stuck here as no one to look after the place. Have a 15 1/2 year old collie who needs injections twice a day. Starting to get very smelly, only bath her when really bad but she is still plodding around.Three other collies one of those is 13 and one more or less blind from birth, cat and other livestock.

We will have the full Christmas dinner this year, but we can have it when we want and don't have to be on best behaviour with Mother in law as she is going to one of her daughters this year (the first time in about 20+ years) Mum in law 89 in March.

I told my Husband that I wanted a new flat screen telly for the kitchen along with DVD recorder ;D ;D ;D
It will be interesting to see what I get probably something completely different, but I will be grateful for what ever it is.

If I had to choose a material thing, it would be a pretty pink girly phone that takes photographs!

Both my daughters have really lovely girly phones that do everything but the washing up or should I say load the dishwasher!  I am a bit of technophobic when it comes to electrical and computery things, but if I could just have that one thing, and look the part it would make my day!!!  I have one of those really old bog standard ones in a dirty blue that plays that horrible Vodaphone tone. Not girly at all.   I am rubbish, but I just want that dainty little something to flick out of my handback when I call myself with the other phone!!

Oh yes and it must be able to download Take That as my ring tone!

Generally I have never really been a 'pink' person, but I did have a pink phone  once.  I have a pink mop, a pink dog whistle, a pink lanyard for it, pink socks, pink gloves, a pink scarf, and pink bedding.  This leopard would appear to have changed it's spots.  It has also just showered the ergo keyboard as I dropped some honey on it and it was really sticky and am using an old fashioned one till it dries.  Hope that's soon. ;)  Neither of them is pink but that's not a bad idea - I wonder if you can get them. Must google that! ;D

After seeing latest photo of myself, I am going to change my wish list, I carn't change fate or bring people luck and health although working and walking on the land certainly aids y our health, so, I am going to be realy selfish and wish for a total makeover, I may start on myself as I haven't de fluffed myself for months, I may feel the cold more when I do, I also could do with a good harid do, a bit of plastic surgery, not too drastic, teeth sorting to give me that Ester smile and a complete change of wardrobe and of course an expert makeup artist to colour me in. I am not bothered usualy but I am visiting family over Christmas and they will think I have changed into a wild country women and I haven't, I am quiet content the way I am living my life but when going back to a place where the way I looked was priority over my life quality, I think I had better make a bit of effort.....SO, a total makeover for me please. It sounds as though we all have a really tough year. I am really looking forward to saying good bye to this year as we have had a really bad year.  On the plus side, my parents, auntie, sister and partner are all coming up for new year,so I will be celebrating then.
On another really BIG ;D ;D plus I am flying down to Gatwick from Aberdeen next friday morning and also coming back in the same evening, long day, I am going down to see my eldest daughter's passing out parade for the Police in Kent, she does not know that I am going, her partner has got me a ticket , she thinks that I am working, I want to see her face and to see her in her new police uniform,  I will see my grandson a week early for christmas and give him his present early, plus also it is my mothers birthday that day.
I work in a nursing home part time so I have to work xmas morning and boxing afternoon, so my xmas will be short but spent with my hubby, dogs, cat and chucks.
To see my Grandson Harrison, will the best Xmas present for me, I adore him and miss him terribly living up here so far away from them,

Rosemary I hope you get Take That and the DVD, I love Take That also, I never thought to ask for that for xmas, maybe I will get it my self afterwards. I have asked for the River Cottage diary, Carol Klein's cook book and the Mama Mia DVD.  That should come to around the £30.00 mark which is the amount we set for each
other.

I have been busy making some fudge also to go into my hampers, it did not turn out quite right, but nice tasting, I will have another bash at the weekend.
