Services of a Dexter Bull
« on: January 28, 2011, 11:37:49 am »
We have a small herd of Dexter cattle which we keep on a fenced common.  There are 2 cows which we need to get in calf this June/July.  We are not allowed to keep a bull on the common and have no land of our own.  A kind local farmer has offered us the use of a cattle yard for the 2 months.  This is isolated from all other stock.  Is there anybody willing to hire us a bull for this period.  We would of course organise transport, pay a fee and also pay for the necessary TB testing.  Alternatively would anybody bed and breakfast our cattle on the same terms.  We are situated in the Worcester area and would not want to travel more than 40 miles.  Many Thanks in advance for any replies!

Try looking on the Dexter Cattle Society website, they have a section in The Cattle for Sale bit that advertises Bulls for hire.
Also another bit has a list of Breeders by locality, so you might be able to locate someone local to you.

Good luck.

You have two alternatives - AI or find someone who takes visiting cows.
