I've just ordered a basic stick making kit, has anyone else tried making sticks before?

No, but I innocently took a bag of rams horns to a stick maker expecting him to be happy about it, but rather like free fleece in another thread, he wasn't interested really.  Turns out the horns were not big enough.  Still a different stick maker did make us a lovely stick with Heb horn for the crook, with a little model of the 6 yo tup it had come from on the side - it's wonderful and only comes out when one of us is judging sheep classes.
