Prolonged farrowing in over conditioned sow
« on: November 29, 2020, 05:41:40 am »
Our girl is 3 years old and this is her second litter. She started nesting this morning and shivering and heavily breathing at 4 pm and looked like she was starting to farrow. No milk yet and teats don’t look ready yet. Some clear white discharge at 1am but no sign of piglets yet. I have had a little feel inside (just a few inches) and no piglets near the exit.
Question is, how long do I leave before calling the vet? And how far in do I have to explore inside? She seems very tight so I don’t want to damage her.
Anyone else had experience with long farrowing like this?
Thanks in advance

I would call vet now if you haven't already and have no piglets. When is the due date?
