automatic field water drinker

Hello EveryoneNeed some advice - want to set up an automatic water drinker in the field for two horses. Outside tap is  close to where it is to be sited.  My question is can we set this up ourselves with the current lockdown or does it need a plumber to cut into the mains pipe. ie could we use the tap? Also recommendation as to good tanks there are so many on the internet. Thank you in advance.

I would avoid doing anything major at the moment as if you run into problems you might struggle to get the part you need! maybe use a hose for now!

I would check that your main house stopcock turns off the outside tap. Then dig down and run a spur off the pipe supplying your outside tap. The ticky thing will be finding somewhere selling the connectors from copper piping to alcathine and all of the connectors you'll need for the job.
