At 8 o'clock tonight listen for the pipers
« on: April 02, 2020, 07:03:35 pm »

Every piper in Scotland is called on to play 'Scotland the Brave' at 2000 tonight, Thursday, as a very loud applause and praise for the workers in the National Health Service, and the wonderful brave work they are doing.  So listen out for the pipes when you applaud tonight.

Are they all going to start at exactly the same time, in the same key and play at the same speed?

If not, does anybody know where I can find some earplugs?  :o

If they can hear eachother, yes.  Otherwise, who cares? Who knows? If a tree falls in the forest and there's no-one there to hear it, has it happened?  Yes of course it has.

... If a tree falls in the forest and there's no-one there to hear it, has it happened?  Yes of course it has.

But it still fell silently !

Wow, this is all very philosophical!

My point was purely practical. If Jimmy can't hear Johnny, but I can hear both of them......  :innocent:

So, did anybody hear anything, or are we all too far away from civilisation?

Households banged pots and pans, while others played the bagpipes to show their support.

Actually? I think bagpipes played well are amazing.

A few years ago I did the Edinburgh New Year's Day Triathlon. It starts off with many lengths of the Commonwealth Pool, and before they blew the starting whistle, a lone piper played from the balcony in honour of one of the Edinburgh Tri Club members who had died a few weeks before.

So there I am, stood beside a pool wearing nothing but a pair of Speedos, tears streaming down my cheeks.....

(I'll bet you need a new thought now, don't you?)

What, all those body fluids contaminating the pool water, or......the speedos.  Which is worse?  Ah yes, definitely the speedos  :tired:

Listen out next Thursday too.  Mr F was on his own on our little hilltop, but we have two working nurses within hearing distance so I hope they did hear.

There are Cornish pipes so you could start the trend down there    Probably Highland pipers living locally too.

One lone piper down the hill in Clackmannan main street, lots of clapping, and pots and pans being banged - all in the distance.

I went out and clapped for  a  wee while
