the housemartins have arrived

at last! by autumn I shall be longing for peace and quiet, but right now I long for their incessant chirping right outside the window  :excited:

I only said yesterday swallows are here but no housemartins. .I get up this morning and there is one inspecting it's old nest  :excited:

Our housemartins turned up a couple or three weeks ago.. they've already built a new nest (last years fell down) but notably it's a bit smaller than typical (more conical at the bottom). V reckons they're downsizing in keeping with modern practice...
