OK - this is really daft, but what do you do with used compost once you pulled ut the veg from the pots? I planted a load of carrots in pots, which were great, but now we ate them all what do I do with the compost. Can I use it next year or will all the goodness be gone? I could just stir it into the raised beds but dont want to spread any potential viruses from pot to bed.  ???

its no good for veg again as is, it loses most of its nutrient value within 6 weeks.

i do one of two things with mine (and as a gardener i get loads) i either use it for topping off flower beds or more often i sieve it back into my compost bins to mix with the new stuff, the advantage of this is that its a brown layer to mix with green stuff to make good compost!!!

i dont grow veg at home due to lack of space and as veg seem to have even more illnesses than rosebushes (which are the bane of my life) im not sure whether spent compost can go onto other veg areas...

Same here - tip it all on the compost heap.

Mine goes on the muckheap so is reused as and when the muckpile rots down.
