Friday 24th November

Bit of the winter blues here; partly weather related, partly due to all the shit going on in the world. Just been keeping up with the chores and having a bit of a sort through of the cupboards to give the impression of being productive.

The weather has changed to cold and crisp – windy today, but lovely and dry.

Saturday 25th November

At an all day event in Stirling then out for tea with Karen. Went to a wee restaurant in Bridge of Allan called “Friend of Mine”. Fab food. Took the train – it’s cheaper to drive but more stressful. Love travelling by train.

Dan spent the day chain sawing and clearing storm-broken branches in the wood. He’s done quite a bit of clearing too. It’s an area we’ve never got to and, while “wild” is nice, it really needs some work – too many trees, too close together.

Sunday 26th November

Cold again. Dan out again with the chain saw and loppers while I caught up with washing, washing up and all that stuff. Tired after yesterday and I have earache in my left ear.

Out to lunch with the Festival organising team. It was great to meet up with no business to discuss. They really are a great bunch. We met at “The Glover Arms” in Perth – and I think we were all impressed. Would definitely go back.

I’ve informed the Trustees of Smallholding Scotland that 2024 will be my last Festival; if they can get someone soon, I’m happy to work with them for 2024, or if they want to just get on with it, then I’m happy to handover now. It’s been 13 years, it’s been a blast but it’s time to move on. I feel like my “baby” has grown up. It’s a different event to what it has been in the past – and that’s good and positive – but it's not for me.

Dan moved all the photos from my old iMac to my laptop, so I'm determined to sort through them. Most have featured in the Diary on TAS - and there are SO MANY. Started by putting them into subject folders, then will delete the rubbish ones. It may take all winter.

Not quite sure how to edit a comment but it didn’t upload full message. I was asking what the “smallholders festival” is that you mention?
