Monday 26th August

Cool and a heavy dew first thing, but no wind. Sun out by 9am. Lovely sunrise.

I weeded half the brassica bed before my chum Tara arrived. I was going to pull out this parsley that’s gone to seed, but it was moving with pollinators.

The last unripe corn cob in the tunnel is covered in black flies. Dan was going to take it out until he say all the other insects feeding on it. So it stays meantime too.

Tuesday 27th August

Heavy rain this morning.

Turkey dinner; all ours apart from the turkey from South Powrie Farm. Christmas leftovers and still delicious.

Wednesday 28th August

The pea bed is now remineralised, weeded and tucked up for the winter.

Dan has finished his “practice socks”. He’s now knotting his entry for the Scottish Smallholder Festival.

Cooper loves a wee saucer of milk, but Oh, he’s messy. I think he has a hole in his bottom lip.

And he eats layers pellets. Weird cat.

Friday 30th August

I’m off to the SNP Conference this morning for three days, so this will be my last entry this week. Although I may list all the jobs Dan gets done in my absence.

Gwenna has made a new den under the fuchsia hedge.
