Monday 27th January

Overcast and raw today, but Dan spent some time lifting an replanting rhubarb and digging out some wayward strawberries. I finally made a start on planting the heathers, probably got 1/3 done.

We had a couple of hours at the Hub; Dan was working with Joanne on the design for the sign (it’s looking really good) and I was tidying up. Then Kate dropped in more YC stuff and I collected some flags donated by a woman in Monifieth. So I’ll start again on Wednesday.

Not much of a diary entry this week, ending Sunday 16th February. More of a spacer, than a real entry. We had a wonderful week in Gran Canaria, came home then I suffered a bout of norovirus. Unpleasant.

Dan did some outside work – cleared half a comfrey bed, finishes splitting and replanting rhubarb in the fruit garden and vegetable garden (and we have a lot left), replanted some rogue strawberry plants.

Not much of a diary entry this week, either. The weather has been pretty dismal – cold, grey, windy. Thankfully, not too much rain – the ditches are empty still. There was a sunny period on Thursday, followed by strong winds and a heavy shower. Saturday finally felt like spring – 10C, sunny and even the brisk breeze couldn’t spoil it.

We did get some jobs done outside; on Thursday, Dan and Murdo cleared out the flower bed under the dining room window, ready for planting, and started to prepare the area for the Cornus swathe.
