Hello from Sunny France
« on: September 25, 2008, 01:09:02 pm »
Hi
Newbie here!
I'm Jackie and I live in France, Limousin.
We are sort of living off the land at the moment, whilst we build our house.
Living in an extended mobile home with....

We have 3 turkeys,14 rabbits,104 chickens various ages, 1 pig or should say 1/2 a pig as we brought it with friends.
2 dogs, 2 cats, 1 Appaloosa 2.5yrs, 2 teenagers! 1 Hubby
Think that's enough!

We are thinking of getting a couple of sheep to bring on for the freezer with some friends.
We have just rented some land up the road from us with water and shelters. It was used for sheep before.

Any advice would be greatfully recieved.

Many Thanks

Jackie

Hi there everyone.

Fellow 'newbie' here as well, been here in the Vienne since February and slowly building up our menagerie (aka future food supplies  ;D)

We've gotten ourselves so far...

Three dogs (came with us)
Three rabbits
Two turkeys
One goat (not for eating)
Umpteen chickens, constantly increasing with the incubator and the one that went 'broody'
And the latest addition is the six ducks.

Whilst the chicken numbers do vary, we've normally got between 18 and 24 at any time.
