Hi Guys
Looking for some advice ....I purchased some GG goats back in April with the hope of keeping them with my flock of Ryelands ... all was good until I’m afraid the goats now seem to causing me a rather huge headache re worms !
I’ve now been advised by vet to keep the goats separate from my sheep!!
Any one else keeping sheep and goats together ??
Any opinions /advise greatly appreciated

I didn't find worms to be an issue but my goats bullied the sheep so I had to separate them. The goats really enjoyed chasing the sheep it was like a game haha

I am having worn counts as the goats were very wormy ! Anyway after  3 months we got an all clear and now once again the goats had high count along with the lambs so we now advises to graze separately !!

My goats bully the lambs a little bit the mums always step in most of the time they play and the goats tease them run away - it’s so funny to watch and now don’t know what to do as keep separate or carry on ??

I keep goats and sheep sometimes in the same fields and sometimes rotating separately depending where the grass, nettles and hedges need eating most.
They mostly stay in their own groups and don't cause each other problems even the big rams and bucks.

Goats don't build up the same tolerance of worms that sheep do so will need to be dosed regularly or yes you will have problems.
You do know that the goat dose has to be higher than for sheep. Some wormers twice as much, some one and a half times.

Yes I do know about the double dose ... I opted after the last worm count back to high , last month was clear and I thought great cracked it .... how wrong was I so I opted  to get vets out so they have helped re the  dose and have me lots of advice one being so not graze sheep with goats !!
