Hi There from Carmarthenshire - That's in Wales!!
« on: August 20, 2010, 12:53:42 pm »
We have recently moved to Wales from Cornwall - having sold a house and associated holiday cottages.  Supposed to be retirement, but with 35 acres it does not seem like it.  We have 4 :horse:, 2 donkeys, 6 :chook:, 2  :pig:, and 21 Llanwenog  :sheep: (they are the ones that look like Shaun off the TV).  Why Wales? - its much better value than Devon/Cornwall - more land much less money (more for beer!).
The problem I have at the moment is getting some form of insurance for the smallholding.  I can get insurance for the house and contents for £125, but I have been quoted £450 for insurance for the land, animals etc.  (Horses/donkeys are covered separately).  Anyone out there got any ideas?

Hello

All that acreage sounds devine. I am jealous!

Can't help with the insurance though, sure someone else can.

Hello from Oxfordshire, where abouts in Camathanshire my dad is down that way near Llandelio, and have you tried the NFU they are very good at tailoring insurance to meet your needs rather than general insurance companies.

Hello and welcome from Worcestershire

do try NFU mutual - they are good at making sure the deal fits your circumstances. not biased or anything but hubby does work for them and they have covered our house/holding.

Welcome to Wales :)  Hope you'll love it here.  Several brokers around. Can give you a few contacts to try if you like?
