Turkey chick problems!
« on: August 14, 2010, 08:47:32 am »
Hi,
About three weeks ago i was given a Naragansett Hen with three Bourbon Red chicks that she had hatched. One of the chicks, a runt, was definately failing so it was dispatched within a couple of days on the advice of the breeder.

In the last 24hrs i have lost the other two chicks. No apparent illness, just noticed one was a bit flat yesterday and not jumping around as normal, then 2 hours later it was dead. Then this morning the other was gone too.

Mother is now fretting and calling for them!

they were being fed on turkey chick crumbs and mashed hard boiled eggs. Fresh water always available. tucked up in their house at night.

Any ideas??? Does anyone know of any replacment chicks, even if a bit older, for company for the mum!! i am in Angus area of Scotland !!
Cheers Emma T

Jocelyn near Dairsie keeps Turkeys, or did when I visited her. She may well be able to point you in the right direction. You will find her phone number here, hope she can help.
