Has the snow killed my raspberries!
« on: March 16, 2018, 08:14:45 pm »
Hi, back at the beginning of Feb I planted some raspberry canes. Currently they still look like dead sticks and I’m thinking the snow and freezing temperatures we had might have killed them. Should they be showing signs of life by now or will I need to wait a while yet? The varieties are Joan J and Autumn Treasure if that helps.
Thanks  :)

Wait and see! Prob fine as quite cold hardy (thrive wild in Scotland and Norway) but depends on variety and how they were grown. -maybe if grown in polytunnel in warmer climes then put outside in snowstorm = not so good. My guess is they are fine :-)

I planted some last month. None of them had much in the way of growth and some still don't.

Autumn ones tend to sprout later
