What to do when you can't sleep
« on: July 31, 2010, 11:47:01 pm »
I am still getting used to being single and find sleeping really hard. I have made 3 Dog blankets, 6 bracelets, 3 necklaces 12 pairs of earrings and too many rings to count and now I'm bored and can't think of anything to do.
Anyone have any advice?

Sorry I can't help  :(

My problem is staying awake.

Try selling the stuff you've made. If you sell it all in one go, the excitement might tire you out  ;D

Still trying to build a website but the husband took the camera when he left so I have a bit of a catch 22 can't buy a camera without sales can't sell without photos. I will have to wait until I go to work next week and sell some more.
Just made some shopping bags but cn't afford the shopping to put in them ;)

Try a car boot sale first, that might get you some money in - they usually only charge about £10 for a  pitch, but you have to get there pretty early to set up and get a good place.  I'm sure you'd sell your lovely jewellery at one of those.

Have you a friend or family member who can take some photos for you to put on your computor?

I have done car boots in the past and loved them, some stuff was sold far too cheap but the way I looked at it, otherwise the stuff would be in a cupboard somewhere!!!!

Ellisr, there are so many answers to that question none of which are suitable for this thread  ;)  :o

Have a look on ebay for a digital camera, you really cannot go wrong with them and should be relatively in-expensive.

Normally reading does do the trick, even thrillers put me to sleep in 10 minutes but now I have the other problem - OH is an insomniac and if he wakes up I can't sleep properly as I can hear him listening to radio 4 over his headphones...So a new partnership is not the answer! ::) I will try anything now to get him to sleep, herbal tinctures, homeopathic remedies and will send him to the doctor for the heavyy stuff - I'm fed up and too tired to do anything productive myself. At least you made nice things in that time, I just grumble silently... :&>

Well tonight I'm going for the hot bath, ovaltine and a book method to see if that helps as I can't get any jobs done when I'm tired through the day. Luckily I have tomorrow off work to catch up on some chores (hopefully). I have put the beads outside in the shed so I'm not tempted to start making jewellery.
I am going for a ride on Blue then I'll walk the dogs that should help tire me and hopefully I should just pass out from exhaustion.

Sounds like a plan  ;)

I had a Sony digital camera here someware, if I can find it Ill see about getting to you as a loaner for now to get you going. If I cant find the elusive object Ill come over with my camera and take some pics for you in exchange for a coffee  ;D Ooops just invited me self   :-\ how embarrassing  :-[ :-[ Let me know if that sounds ok.

Got this funeral coming up so a bit of a headless chicken here at the moment, excuse the pun  ::) They want an escort of bikes for the hurst.

If I find it and all else fails Ill post the bugger to you  ;) Just add batteries, not the greatest but it will do the job and has Macro so you can do some close ups of your jewelery, also has a video so you can film that stupid man if he gets another ambitious thought.

Your more than welcome for coffee and I normally have a cake on the go. Inviting yourself is fine it is an open house to friends ;D

Sorry to hear about your mate but the escort of bikes sounds very fitting.

maybe the coffee isnt helping... but Im sure the cake will !    ;D ;)

why not try this...

Chamomile Tea Recipe (One serving)

1 cup water, 1 tsp. dried chamomile flowers, lemon juice and honey

Preparation:

First, bring the water to the boil in a saucepan. Add the dried chamomile flowers to the water (either directly or using a tea infuser) and boil for thirty to forty-five seconds with the lid on. Remove the tea from the heat and let the flowers steep for another minute. The loose flowers can then be removed from the tea using a strainer.

Served with honey and a little lemon juice, this tea is a tasty way to unwind after a busy day and its calming properties usually begin to take effect within a half hour of drinking a cup.

For added sedative effect, substitute a few leaves of Lemon Balm for the lemon juice

Hops is also a good one, as in beer  ;D but the hops flower tea actually tastes ok, Valerian is quite nasty :P
