Ryeland sheep wanted
« on: July 31, 2010, 01:03:20 pm »
Hello, I am looking for some Ryeland sheep to purchase. I am based in Shropshire and want some to help keep the grass down in the field. Does anyone know where I can find any for sale? Any information would be really helpful - thank you

What are you looking for? I have some of this years lambs that I may sell for breeding instead of meat. They can all be registered. The father is Roston King Pin and the mums are registered - from the Bosworth flock. I am in Cheshire.

I have met the Chicken Ladys Flock of Rylands, and they are very nice.  I would say too nice for eating, and should be used for breeding.

Ryelands are beautiful but remember the meat is the choice of the Queen

Thank you for your replies, Chicken lady I am looking for 4 - 5 which would be kept primarily to keep the grass down and to cross graze with the horses with the intention of breeding from them at a later date. Depending on numbers etc a couple of the resulting offspring maybe eaten. Could you let me know any more information, price of your stock etc, perhaps you could messgae me? Thank you

I will check how many ewes I have. Would you want them registered?

I have Ryelands and they are lovely. Our ram is like a big soft teddy bear! You'll love them. The meat is delicious too.

We've just started a flock of Ryelands and they are gorgeous.  Our lambs are very friendly, and I think our eldest ewe has more brains than we give her credit for.  Would really suggest getting some!  Though, if you want pedigree ones make sure they are able to be registered; two of ours had an un-registered sire, so we have had to wait for him to be able registered to register ours.  :farmer:
