Roxy's kittens...

a month (?) on...

Frankie (grey) and Alfie (black)
not convinced of their outdoor, ratting nature when they are both on my knee purring/snoring as I type....     ;D

Aw, lovely to see them again, Ruth!!  Yes, you had them on 20th June, the day of the horse show.

We had the twins to both of those, but remember they disappeared the day before you were due to have them with another kitten.  Two returned, but the third didn't.  The lady who was having them when you got yours,  finally got the grey and white one yesterday, but I felt awful, as the black and white one did a disappearing act again on Thursday, and returned last night. Must have known she was taking it.

So, she will have exactly the same kittens as you, although the black and white one is a lot smaller.  There again, it was from a different litter, and is sllightly younger.

Lillian, the mum of yours is white, with a stripy black and white tail and two white blotches on her head.

You must be strict and keep them outdoors  to catch any vermin ;D

be strict?!
today, Frankie has been either under my feet or on my shoulder all day - indoors and out, and we lost Alfie for at least an hour, convinced he had been "lost" by the other cat or hung himself with his brand new collar... he had got into the house and had been fast asleep sometwhere out of sight!
but they 'chase' well and so hopefully will gain a blood lust.

think Frankie is jealous of the baby goat and all the attention he gets!

Goodness me, those two kittens have soon got the measure of you ......its amazing how the little hissing and spitting bundles, turn into house cats though!!  I did try and handle all the kittens, although they did not come in the house.  I have two house cats, others all outside.  Pumpkin was abandoned by his mum at about 3 weeks with his brother. Sadly his brother died, despite my best efforts. Pumpkin was tiny, but he struggled on.  Now about 8 months, and he is the boss of the dogs.  From being 3 weks old he was hanging on their tails climbing on them .....and he still does it.

Now Ruth, I will say it again, only louder .......Put the kittens outside, they are there to catch mice, and will not be doing that whilst sitting on your knee/shoulder

And when you told me you had them on your knee whilst typing a message ....was the computer/laptop outside then?  When the darker nights come and it gets colder, I can imagine you inviting the kitties indoors to warm themselves, cos you feel sorry for them out in the cold!!!

ah yes, I'd forgotten that!
that was when it raining really heavy, and they'd come into the kitchen for some exercise!
they are sleeping in the chicken coop now, not the big shed - thats full of hens, so need to be out for a run around, or the kitchen if its wet.
(do I protest too much?!)

today, I have been reluctantly helping hubby fix new fascia boards... whilst holding the ladder, a small grey and white fluffball jumped off the wall onto my shoulder and sat there watching, until I removed him.  what can I do?!

They'll hunt all the better for you if they love you.  ;D Ours are pretty soft with us but lean, mean and prolific hunters.

I suppose you cannot help petting them - they are rather cute :D  I am just so pleased they have got a good home, so you go ahead and let them in the house......they will probably bring you the things they catch, as a sort of thank you.  One of my bigger cats arrived with a rabbit this afternoon. She quickly took it behind a board to eat, before the other 9 cats saw it!!

Alfie, who is a female, comes along the lane, making a right racket if she catches something,. This alerts all the others to the fact she is coming along with something to eat ......they rush forward and take it off her!!

cant help it? theres no choice with Frankie - he cries if he's ignored, then just hurls himself at you to climb up for a cuddle!
my neighbour came round to see baby goat, and Frankie went from my shoulder to hers and purred down her ear!
Alfie is much more independent... but likes attention, and a warm place to kip.

Del the tabby is a good hunter.... but she hisses at the kittens, so they'll not learn anything from her except bad manners  :)
