Is there something you guys are not telling me?
« on: November 02, 2017, 03:31:11 pm »
Having a nosey on the marketplace board last night and came face-to-face with this advert.

I've spent the last few days researching mushrooms and sheep breeds, so can't be anything I've looked at.

Is there a secret group of smallholders making so much wonga you all have DB11's on the quiet, and if so what is it you're doing?  :excited:

It's not what you've looked at on TAS, but what you've been pining over elsewhere.  Or maybe it's just a key word in something you've written.  I think they're targeted to individuals, so maybe no-one else sees what you see.  I'm sure [member=1]Dan[/member] can explain  ;D

We filter out any inappropriate ads, and ask Google not to do that creepy thing where you search for something and then the ads follow you around t'internet.

Other than that it can all be a bit random unless there's a strong association between the text on the page and an advertiser who wants you to see their wares.

Unless Rosemary's going to surprise me for Christmas with a new car...

(We wish we could turn the ads off completely but they help towards the running costs of the site.)

To be honest I don't even notice the ads.  So they're wasting their time and money on me lol

I'm paying more attention to the ads now and I've had one for black tie evening wear and another for diamond rings! Perhaps they are trying to arouse envy and longing, to guide me back to a pathway of mindless consumerism. Definitely not been searching for status symbols.

All I'm interested in right now is the ratio of straw, soil and pig  :poo: to use for my buckets of mushrooms.

Mind you, where there's muck there's brass so who knows. These button mushrooms could be the key to my future fortune.   :roflanim:

Nope,  I'm getting wood preservative, international courier services and men's razors. Still, that's a lot better than my Amazon recommendations list!  ;D

Chicken coops; chicken coops; chicken coops; chicken coops (it's all a bit futile, as I just bought one of those  ::) ) and a pulley airer - I just bought one of those too, but it's really useful for hanging strings of onions, garlic, shallots and dried flowers in the scullery

PU leather baseball caps for me.  I am obviously not worth any posh status symbol items.

Your message had 'Canal Arts and Crafts.....' with it - I was looking at that last night, though I didn't buy anything.  Very pretty ad  :D

I’m feeling left out.  Whenever I look at this thread, I get something like Smallholder insurance or Poultry Litter :/
