Quick question
« on: September 11, 2017, 03:24:57 pm »
I have been offered a 6 year old Kune Kune, I have the space for her as well as shelter, time, interest. Can someone tell me if I need to have a licence to move her from where she is to my place? (it's about 6 miles) we have a trailer and she will be a pet and hopefully may clear the odd thistle. I have sheep, goats, waterfowl, hens but have not kept a pig, may be crazy but it's an easy life here for her or slaughter on the 19th.

I take it that means a movement licence? I have a holding number, where do I get a licence at short notice?

Chris, you can register with bpex and complete the movement form there.

Don't want to put a damper on things but you really should keep at least two pigs together

Thanks Bionic, I would love two pigs, this one has been living with the sheep and if we bring her home I will look out for a friend for her, she is 6 so I thinbk I would have to be careful, it's not easy here on the Island finding stock?

Sorry Chris, I should have also said that you will need a pig herd number to register with bpex

BPEX (without the first E) - make sure you're not being autocorrected  :innocent:

The person you are getting the pig from must do the licence. On line via the eaml2 system. To complete that you must have a CPH but you can get a herd mark later.

Google eaml2 not BPEX and then register yourself on there. You will also need a vet's details.

The now owner of the pig will do the licence and give you a copy as the haulier. You then confirm the movement on line once you receive the pig.

I'm not sure which island you live on but if it is Scottish then I believe you have a different system for movements so you might need to register with Scoteid.

https://www.gov.uk/bpex-online-pig-movement gives you all the info.

If she is six and been kept on her own with other animals for company and is happy and healthy she will probably be more than happy on her own. Finding her a friend and introducing them may well cause more stress than it is worth.
