ours ex-bats lay better (percentage-wise) than the ones we had from POL, at the same age.
and they're lovely girls, though have a few mental health issues...

I inherited a lovely black orpington we call Aretha Franklin after she was rehomed then bullied at her new place.  I only have four others and Aretha lives in her own house as I suspect she is nearly blind.  I think I got 4 eggs in the whole of last year but she's no spring chicken and I do have a wee bit space for her dotage (and a soft spot).  But, guess what, a bit of tlc and she's laying every second day!  I am friends with her two other owners and they can't believe it.  She was sold as POL to the first but the seller should have been done by trades descriptions.  If I thought she was suffering in any way...

We haven't had any that have stopped laying completely to be fair, and as long as I'm getting a 75% lay rate (there or there abouts) that keeps me in eggs and earning their own keep, then they can stay!
