are perches needed for every chuck and every house?
in two of our houses we have one each, we have another smalll house but the chucks seem to cuddle up
nicely together, it is a big rabbit run used inside a run for their home.
will they be ok without one?

they need a perch - its their natural instinct... but do seem to like snuggling up on the same one!

I'm not sure they need one - we've a couple that prefer the floor. We do try to get them to perch though - as they get sh1t on by the hens that are actually ON the perch.

what I meant was one should "offer" a perch!
our ex-bats refuse to use a perch and stand around the nest box - bums pointing outwards!!

I think what is meant by "offer" is to place them onto the perch LB.

I had the same problem with our layers & it took me about a month to get them to use the perch.

Our chicks have a mini version in their brooder, which i made up out of 1" sq strapping i had in the hut.

I have plenty of perch space for the ex bats and light Sussex coop but some just don't want to perch no matter what. Seem to be happy though

Our first shed for the ex batts didnt have perches just some breeze blocks that a few of them sat on,they now have a new house that has 3 rows of perchs it has taken 4 weeks for them to start sitting on them but most of them still choose to sit on the floor.
