Poorly lamb
« on: May 09, 2017, 10:10:27 am »
Hi all,

I've had my cade lambs for a week now, two are five weeks old and the other is four weeks.

The youngest of the three has developed a rather snotty nose - it's thick green snot. He's also got scours but is almost constantly straining to go.
He is still eating and drinking and very keen for his milk! He seems under the weather but comes out of his pen for a mooch round with his buddies still so is fairly bright.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong or treatments?
I will of course ring the vet if he deteriorates but wanted to hear others experiences if possible  :)

Ring the vet tomorrow regardless if his condition has deteriorated or not.

The scour could well be coccidiosis and will need treating with Vecoxan, which you can easily out into their milk if they are on the bottle.

He now seems a lot brighter, just constipated now!

Rang the vet who advised of a few things but didn't feel he needed to come out as he is still eating and has improved somewhat. Seems to think it's to do with having Heptavac vacc. and he should hopefully be back to normal soon.
