Easter time i bought what was sold as a mating pair, however after no eggs got someone to have a look who confimed they are both male. They are always together, sit together, eat together and get in there bath together. As i really wanted some eggs bought 2 female geese they have not layed either since ive had them but at least they are def female, trouble im having is the two males still stick together and will chase the two females off from the food and water do i remove one of the males as i have some ex batt geese coming in two weeks or leave them and hope they will settle but it has been about a 5 weeks since the ladies came.Didnt want them pining for each other or do geese not do that.

Geese are very close to each other , they will pine. I would wait until the others come and see what happens then. Geese dont fight to draw blood just chase around, so there should be no injuries. How much space do they have? to me geese should be free range. If they are they will form groups in summer but gather together in winter.Geese are a loyal family bird , they should settle down easily. If your geese are free range they should not need feeding at all. I only feed mine when the ground is frozen. Feed seperately if you have to so they know there area. They should settle, ganders do not fight they will warn others off a nest but will live quite happily in groups together, not like cockerels.Good luck.

At the goose farm next door, (one mile away) I was fascinated to see the geese going to bed one night. They sleep in an old stables with about 7 stalls. As they began to approach the stables they appeared to get into groups, and only entered their stall with their own group and in strict rotation, standing aside to let other groups go in first. I asked the farmer if he had trained them to do this but he said no. they do it all by themselves and even when he gets new geese they seem to know what to do.
