Had a few enquiries today from people wanting goats. One of the callers wanted to come that minute sort of thing and get the three Franks. Obviously, I asked some questions about where they are going etc. etc. Well, he has no holding number for a start, but said the owner of the land must have one .....I told him if he was using separate land from the owner he should have his own CPH number. He has gone off to check this out apparantly. But he says he definitely wants the Franks, but was a little evasive as to why.
Alarm bells are ringing, and I know you should not judge people just on a phone call, but if I said from the area he was calling from, and other things about him, I have this awful feeling the Franks could go in a curry. I am not against goats going for meat, but the Franks have been bred as pets, and thats what I want them to remain......on the other hand, he could be perfectly ok, and my fears unfounded.
I really do have to let them go, as soon as possible. My OH is helping me feed them at the moment, but he is not into livestock, and says he is getting fed up, and I must rehome them to whoever will take them.
This potential rehomer is calling back later this evening, and he does seem persistant to get them away as soon as possible. He insists they are going to a smallholding....but .....
