Hi, Monty

We have some Rhode Island Reds that are about 5-6 years old. We regard them as pensioners and hoist the flag if they lay. Eventually they will stop completely.

Hens lay best in their first season when they can lay 260 plus eggs; output will drop after that by about 20% per year.

The cream legbars will proberbly only lay for the summer months. I agree with the other replies regarding life span and laying generally.
