Has anyone tanned their own hides?
I've managed to secure a cow skin (due to come off in the next couple of weeks) to have a go with. I'm confident about cooling and fleshing the hide but internet searches bring up a range of recipes for tanning solutions - some have battery acid in them? This might be standard, but never having done it myself I don't want to mess it up at this crucial stage 
If anyone has a tried and tested recipe I'd be very grateful

Hi - did you find a recipe in the end?
I'd be happy to offer some advice. not done a cow myself, they are big and a challenging first job - but possible!
