LPG for home
« on: May 17, 2010, 08:40:21 pm »
The new place I have bought isn't on the grid for gas so I'm having to get an LPG tank :( And get my super cooker whatevered to make it work with LPG. Grrrr!

I want the tank buried so its not an eyesore but trying to get any sort of price comparison is as rare as hens teeth. Grrr!

I live (will live) within 2 miles of the dam gas coming into the country so you'd think it wouldn't be hard to compare suppliers would you? It is!!!

The business heating is run by oil (2 tanks) so that's my next fight to get the best deal around.

The phone and internet is the next hassle I'm gonna have after that!

However on the good side we met a local who said "You are doing a boarding kennels? Great! We desperately need one as there is a shortage in this area especially for this year and Ill be your fist customer with my 4 dogs."

Yay!!! Back to plan A

Hi

We are not on gas either and have to run our heating and cooker from bottled lpg, whilst the cooker takes almost nothing the heating is a very different story, wish now we would have gone for oil.

Are you just running cooker or heating as well.

I have mains gas, but my next door neighbour has an underground LPG tank with an inbuilt computer which orders the top up when it's needed.  They are less than half an acre door to door behind me but it was going to cost £5000 to get mains gas!

We're not on mains gas either.  The house is on oil and the holiday cottage on LPG.  To start with it was just the bottles, 4 at time, but I've just changed to a tank which will work out a bit cheaper.  I did look at getting it put underground, but the cost meant it wasn't worth it.  So I've put some trellis around it to grow some plants up and hide it a bit.

OK Ive found some gas now and its £700.00 to put the tank underground or £250.00 above ground and 34p per litre of gas.

In the end half my house is gonna be heated with gas and the other half with oil. Its the way the buildings are now and the offices will be incorporated into the house.

We've no gas in the new house either, so we're having a ground source heat pump and PV cells. Hopefully.
