I have a couple of old ewes that are going to market both have lost there tags in left ear I have got the red replacement tag do I just need to replace the one in each ewe

Your ewes need a tag in each ear that have the same individual number , so you either buy a replica tag the same as the one still in the ear either EID or NON EID  , or you cut out the remaining tag ( record  in your  holding register ) and put in a new matched pair of tags  ( record in holding register )

further to this .. if ewes originated from a different holding then put in 2 red tags  or if home reared either 2 red(one being EID)   or 2 matching of your own (in whatever colour you use) one being EID.
