its very breezy here in Derbyshire....
to the extent that sometime overnight, its blown open the door of our chicken shed!
Gladys and her three ladies had obviously had a good rummage round the veggie patch opposite the open door, we found them looking in at the ex-battery hens on the bank.
luckily, they are known for their gullability... a good rattle of the food bucket and a few scatterings of grain got them back home safely (with me herding them along from behind!)
Lenin, the black silkie cockeral on the other hand, is much more wary of two-legged things... and off he went up and down the garden, chuntering all the way!
the pigs shouted support, the rabbits were all up on their back legs watching, and the chooks encouraged him by clucking advice as to which way to go (well, thats what it seemed like!)
after a good deal of trying to corall this mad cock, and making wild rugby tackles, in the rain ,we managed to trap him in a tight corner where he was slowed down by the thick brambles. I took my chance and dived in to grab him, ignoring the cuts and thorns and pecking beak!
he screamed all the way back to shed, then sulked in the corner til I left.
after letting the girls back in, I peeked through the window to see him trying to hide behind the nesting box, and one of the girls hassling him as she was trying to lay!
