First Cuckoo
« on: April 29, 2016, 04:31:22 pm »
Heard one in the wood just now.  "Cuckoo" is the word - three days with snow and three frosts this week!  I think the seasonal calendar has shifted from the date calendar by two months.  The grass grew well into October last year and this is February weather.

We heard our first cuckoo a couple of days ago.

You can't taste last years cider until you hear the first cuckoo. (So we heard ours about two weeks ago!   :roflanim: )

No cuckoos around here for some reason, but we haven't even had our first swallow yet.  Woke up to 4" snow this morning  :cold:

Don't wrestle with pigs, they will love it and you will just get all muddy.

I haven't heard a cuckoo since I left Ireland, they would shout until you could shoot them. I would give Fleecewife's £1,000 to hear one again!
