Feeding creep to lambs
« on: April 01, 2016, 08:40:44 am »
Hi Everyone,

I have 6 orphan lambs, earliest born the 2nd week of January, all having creep rations twice per day.
My question is, how long do I need to keep giving them creep for? - They all are eating hay well, not out to grass yet as the ground is still quite wet (hoping to get them out mid may) and all have full bellies but need a bit more coverage over the spine and back. Clean back ends too.

Any advice greatly appreciated.  :)

We normally creep ours until 4 months old depending on grass and weather. Our first set of orphans born end of Jan have just gone out in the garden with hay and are on 2 creep feeds a day.

Creep is replacing the protein they'd be obtaining from the ewe's milk and enabling them to grow frame and muscles.
