I am very keen to get myself a few quail.  Does anyone know of breeders in Scotland.  We are on the West coast.
Any help gratefully received!

if you have an incubator,or could rent one, then there are many eggs on ebay and they are easy to hatch and look after. My nan reguarly gets eggs for incubation to add new blood into her stock.

I got a couple of chicks at the poultry sale in the local market - might be worth checking what's in your area (My local mart is Lanark and there's another sale on 27th May if that's any good ?)

Thanks for the replies.  Think I might give incubating a go.  My sons would enjoy that too!!

Where about in Scotland are you?  Am really struggling to find quail anywhere near here?!! We are on the west coast.  Had thought about incubating but our incubator is booked up for the next wee while .  We have just hatched hens and now my son is hatching geese and my husband then wants to hatch some pheasants!!!  Am keen to get quail as soon as possible and would rather buy them in as birds.  Not so bothered about having a male - would rather just a few females.  If hatching ourselves we will probably end up with majority males!!! If anybody knows of a contact for quail on the west coast of Scotland I would be most grateful!! ;)

Aviemore is still a wee bit of a hike from us, although my sons have just been up that way for thier school trip at Landmark.  They are keen to get us up there - wonder if that's something we could tie in?! Going to Landmark and buying some quail from you?!!

Can't believe someone hatched quail from eggs from Tesco!!  I was keen to buy some quail eating eggs from Tesco - am sure I have seen them there in the past - as I wanted to let my boys see them but our Tesco doesn't seem to sell them anymore!!

There used to be a chicken/duck/goose/quail breeder near Oban, but his website had gone a few months ago and I can't recall the name now either. Not sure if he's packed up or just forgot about his website...

Wow!!  That is very close to Landmark indeed!! We are going to Aberdeenshire to pick up my sons goat in 2 to 3 weeks (around the 19th June).  We had thought of tying that in with a visit to Landmark then.  Are you likely to have young qauil available to go then?  Am not after anything fancy - just keen for the eggs!!

I think it's Kintaline Farm that you are thinking of.  Yep..they seem to be downsizing now and the last I heard was that they were just doing a few hens, such as Black Rocks.

Just wondering if you're out there bamford6?  Would love to know if I might be able to get some qauil from you around 19th June time?  And if so, the cost of them too?!! Cheers   ;)
